Lady Parker, Baroness Morley, Elizabeth Stanley

Baroness Morley Stanley is the daughter of Edward Stanley, 3rd Earl of Derby and Dorothy Howard. Her Mother is the daughter of Thomas Howard, who was the 2nd Duke of Norfolk, and if you know your Shakespeare you will recognize him from his play, Henry the VIII.

Her Mother's side of the family was known throughout England for their close connections to the throne of England. Not so well publicized, but often hinted at, was their devotion to Catholicism. The privileges their high rank gave them allowed their family to maintain the secrecy of their religion and their somewhat unconventional lifestyle.

Her mother's repute of growing up in one of the last "great households" (run in the late medieval style of a large boisterous family with everyone who was even distantly related all living together under one roof) has its advantages and drawbacks. One of those drawbacks was that little matter involving her cousin the Katherine Howard, the late 5th wife to King Henry VIII. Seeing as how they both called the 2nd Duke of Norfolk grandfather, and she grew up in the same household as her mother, there is a certain amount of gossip about the sexual mores of the women in her family that still gets voiced to this day. After all, is it her fault for the way that grandmother, the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, Agnes Tilny, ran Lambeth Hall? Ever since the scandal about a few minor indiscretions involving poor Queen Katherine all everyone wants to do is talk about the carryings on in the Dowager's household and where that took her cousin...

Regardless of that setback, her connections with the Howard's and the Stanley's was influential enough to ensure that Elizabeth Stanley received the very best quality education afforded to women in that era and rank. As a result she is an accomplished embroiderer, a charming musician and beloved by all for her quick wit. She is quick to tell anyone who asks that she is fortunate to have had the opportunity to marry such a good man. Competent, dependable, RICH, and, most importantly, not at all as unpredictable with coin as her sister, Mary Stanley's husband.

Her husband, Sir Henry Parker is the 9th Baron Morley and she is the devoted mother to her son Edward Parker. Elizabeth is proud of the fact that she is a cousin to Queen Elizabeth, and to most everyone else at court. Most people know that she was once a Lady of Honor to Her Majesty, and, due to her exposure to the court, is quite fond of dressing well. She is also rather fond of constantly bringing up the subject of when the Queen once visited her house…

Lady Parker is, for the most part, happily married, and has until this point managed her life quite well. However, while she is completely loyal to the authority of Queen Elizabeth, she secretly prays nightly that England may once again be a Catholic nation.

She's got a few minor problems right now with her husband also. Baron Morley left England to go abroad without the Queen's permission and has found himself in exile in Spain. Even worse, he has even been heard saying, perhaps a little too loudly, that England ought to be a Catholic nation once again. Eventually this gets poor Elizabeth and her son into a spot of trouble with the queen, but that hasn't yet come to pass. Henry Parker, in an attempt to regain royal favor, has been regularly sending appeals to Queen Elizabeth, and also Lord Burghley and Leicester. At the moment, Elizabeth is herself visiting the Court to beg the Queen's indulgence and allow Henry to return to his beloved England, or, at the very least, be allowed to travel to Spain to see him. Henry Stanley, her brother, and his wife Margaret Clifford, the countess of Derby, are also attempting to help the troubled Morley family regain the queen's approval.
